Editorial Policy

The Today News publishes verified biographies, timely news, technology coverage, lifestyle features, food coverage and explanatory journalism. This Editorial Policy explains how we work, what readers can expect from us, and how to raise a concern.

Independence and impartiality

Our editorial decisions are made on news value, accuracy and public interest, not on the wishes of advertisers, sponsors, subjects or other outside interests. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. If material is advertising or sponsored, it must not be presented as independent editorial reporting.

Accuracy

We aim to get facts right, to check claims before publication, and to distinguish verified information from rumour, speculation and opinion. Where information is disputed or unconfirmed, we say so rather than presenting it as settled fact. We correct confirmed errors promptly, as described on our About Us page.

Sourcing

We prefer primary and authoritative sources where available, including official records, official statements and reputable reporting, and we link to named sources where a real authoritative source exists. Anonymous or single-source claims are treated with extra care and are not presented as stronger than the evidence supports.

Fairness and privacy

We aim to be fair to the people we write about, to avoid unnecessary intrusion into private life, and to take particular care with private individuals, children and sensitive personal information. Public figures are still treated fairly, and criticism is based on verifiable information, not rumour.

Conflicts of interest

Writers must disclose any personal or financial interest that could affect, or appear to affect, their coverage of a subject. Where a conflict cannot be managed, the writer should not cover that subject.

Corrections and complaints

If you believe an article is inaccurate, unfair or out of date, please email admin@thetodaynews.co.uk with the article title, the passage concerned and any evidence. We will review the complaint, correct confirmed errors, and update the article where needed. For content-removal requests, please explain the specific passage and the reason, and we will consider it on its merits.
